Mars Music, the nation's second largest music instrument retailer needed an e-commerce solution to sell their products
and services to customers online. At the time, mail-order catalogs were the only online vendors offering their wares
while traditional brick-and-mortar shops had yet to build a presence online. With only Guitar Center as a main competitor
Mars was able to target a niche audience of beginner musicians and pros looking for good deals on equipment.
Working on the ATG Dynamo system, I managed a team that built the front-end system that delivered both inventory as well as
content provided by full-time writers. The online store not only offered products, but also provided commentary, articles and
interviews with artists promoting equipment. Additionally, we managed weekly online contests and daily promotions to push
products. marsmusic.com required dynamic inventory displays so that we could offer products based on customer profiles
and similar items.
The site underwent 3 redesigns during my tenure and the site generated at least $2 million in revenue daily.
