Noah's Ark Project is a non-profit, no kill shelter located in Long Island, NY. My wife and I were considering getting
a dog and I scoured the Internet looking for nearby adoption facilities. Through petfinder.com, I came upon this organization
and realized that their personal web site was a complete mess. The site lacked any type of organization and clearly had
"manual updates" written all over it. I decided to reach out to the owner and offered to donate my services to redesign the
site with a unified design and an inventory control system that would easily allow her to manage animal records at the shelter.
Within one night, I threw together this design and built a simple database that allows the administrator to create animal
categories and subtypes allowing her to list current inventory and the numbers of pets available. Additionally, I threw in a
simple search mechanism to query the database and return relevant results. The inventory system also allowed the owner to upload
a photo of the animal with all relevant description information.
